Oral History Director, National Law Enforcement Museum, Washington, DC.

The National Law Enforcement Museum, a program of the National Law
Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund (www.nleomf.org), is presently under
construction opening in late 2009 or early 2010. We are looking for an
experienced oral historian to design, plan and implement a comprehensive
oral history program that will cover a wide range of interviews documenting
law enforcement. Candidates should have proven experience managing an oral
history projects ideally for a history museum or memorial. The successful
candidate will work as a team with staff to develop and integrate the
program.

Qualifications: Masters in Public History, American Studies, Folklore, or
similar program or comparable experience. A minimum of 5 years of
progressively responsible experience in developing and managing oral history
programs is required. The position also requires excellent organizational,
interpersonal, public speaking, critical thinking, and writing skills;
excellent interview techniques; and the ability to develop and implement
comprehensive work plans and travel schedules, hire videographers,
documentary photographers and transcribers. There will be extensive travel. 

Position is contingent upon FY 2007 funds and if funded, will begin after
January 1, 2007. Salary is competitive with generous benefits package. The
