GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORK: This position develops, coordinates and
implements all educational programming for the Wyoming State Museum.
Schedules and coordinates museum tours for school groups. Provides
specific programs requested by schools and other organizations.
Schedules Discovery Trunks for school use statewide. Assists Museum
staff with researching, creating and designing exhibits. Participates as
a member on various Museum committees. Manages the Hands-on History Room
and Teaching Collection. Serves as coordinator for the Wyoming State
Museum Volunteers attending board meetings, scheduling Volunteer work
hours, supervising Volunteer work, interviewing potential volunteers and
providing training for new and current volunteers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Design, coordinate and implement all Museum
educational programs. Assist Museum staff with projects and exhibit
design. Schedule and ship Discovery Trunks statewide. Update teacher
guidebooks when needed, replace and maintain trunks and crates. Develop,
design, research and write teacher guides for new trunks. Package
artifacts to fit trunks. Attend various Museum committee meetings.
Manage the teaching collection by selecting objects, process paperwork
dealing with donations, cataloging objects, repairing objects and
managing the Hands-on Room. Coordinate, interview, supervise, train and
assist the Wyoming Museum Volunteers. Maintain visitation records and
guest register. Assist with visitor inquiries at the main desk. Assist
with security duty of the Museum.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Skill in developing educational programs,
research and writing. Knowledge of educational standards and Wyoming
history. Ability to work as a member of a team, communicate accurately,
solve problems and work with people of all ages.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of training and experience
equivalent to a bachelor's degree in political science, history,
archaeology, anthropology, museums studies or closely related field,
PLUS two years of professional work experience in historic resources
management, preservation, historic research or development or as a
curator in a museum, historic sites or historic preservation program
with responsibility for displaying and exhibiting museum artifacts.
