Cathy,

We have a reference library open to the public as well
as staff. All our items in the library are not
accessioned into the permenant collection. We keep a
list of all item in the library in the collections
room, since we are the ones to make the call on if
they are worthy of the collection or not. Each of the
books is stamped with our museum stamp to keep them
from wandering out of the museum. However, a patron
can ask to check out a book and this idea is being
coordinated with the local library.
