Manager of Tourism and Group Services

The Metropolitan Museum of Art, one of the world's finest museums, seeks a Manager of Tourism and Group Services in the Visitor Services department.  This position is responsible for developing and executing all aspects of the Museum's tourism marketing efforts and overseeing group services operations in the Museum.  Tourism marketing efforts include, but are not limited to, the development of an annual plan for marketing, promotion, public relations, special events, and tourism activities, and the coordination and supervision of the efforts to carry out the plan.  Responsibilities for the group services operations include overseeing all aspects of group and FIT (frequent individual travelers) appointments and needs, maintaining group statistics, accounting, and managing Group Desk activities.   

Successful candidates will have a minimum of 5-7 years of sales and marketing experience in the NYC-area tourism industry as well as management experience.  Must possess excellent verbal, writing and organizational skills, and must be comfortable with speaking before small and large audiences.  Must have excellent skills in the areas of customer service, group leadership and motivation, and must be a hands-on manager.    Schedule will include some travel and evening assignments.  Bachelors degree required, Masters degree in business administration or marketing preferred.  Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, etc.) required, working knowledge of VISTA software preferred.
