The Smithsonian American Art Museum, Education Office, seeks to fill a
temporary position to assist with the museum’s videoconference program,
Artful Connections, that serves students K-12 and post-secondary. In 2004,
the program served 2700 students and 4500 students in 2005. 

Major duties include: 
•	collaborate with staff to develop and deliver programs and materials that
address national and state education standards with attention to
higher-order thinking;
•	train docents in effective presentation skills and use of appropriate
technology;
•	assess program effectiveness;
•	research emerging technology; and
•	participate in development of partnerships and proposals 

Qualifications for this position include: 
•	experience with K-12 education, preferably middle or high school with
curriculum planning a plus;
•	experience with museums or similar programs with program assessment a plus;
•	demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a variety of people
of backgrounds and ages;
•	knowledge of American art or American history; and 
•	experience using and managing computer and communication technology with
videoconferencing a plus.

The salary range is $29,604 to $44,856 depending upon experience. This
two-year position includes annual and sick leave and health insurance.
