INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES -AICA USA

AICA is the American Branch of the International Art Critics Organization. With
an active membership of nearly 400 art critics, AICA/USA is the largest of 74
worldwide chapters of the Paris-based Association International des Critiques
d’Art. Its members are those professionals in art careers who describe,
analyze, interpret, evaluate and express judgments regarding the merits of art.
AICA/USA works through volunteer committees to deal with professional issues of
interest to critics of art. Its mission and priority issues are the defense of
the profession and the exchange of information.

AICA/USA organizes symposia and lectures for the public, plans education
programs for its own members, creates liasons with other critic organizations
and holds an annual Award Ceremony to honor the best exhibitions of the

AICA AWARD CEREMONY

Each year we organize an annual awards ceremony to honor the best exhibitions of
the previous season in a variety of categories. The ceremony is becoming an
increasingly visible and important event nationally. Last year winning curators
and artists flew in from all over the country to receive their awards. The AICA
Award  intern would work with the AICA Award Committee to organize the event
and would be deeply involved in all areas of planning- including being in
contact with winners, who include some of the most important curators, dealers
and artists today, working on the ceremony which last year involved a
powerpoint presentation accompanied by descriptions of each winning show,
preparing press releases and award certificates and helping put together the
reception afterward.

This is a non-paid for credit internship. It will require about 8 to 10 hours a
week from September to January. Much of the work can be done from the intern’s
home under the supervision of AICA’s Award Ceremony Committee. Interns will
have the opportunity to meet and work closely with top critics and curators 
and will gain experience in planning and executing public programs.
