My historical society is in the very early planning stages for an
addition to our house museum, and I strongly second the advice to
focus on how you plan to use the space and what functions you
currently lack. For example, one thing that came from our discussions
is our lack of wheelchair access to the second floor. Any addition we
build will also provide elevator access.
