The Association of Midwest Museums (AMM) has scheduled three day-long 
workshops for 2006.  AMM is collaborating with three Standing Professional 
Committees (SPCs) to sponsor and plan the workshops.  All workshops will be 
held at various museums in Chicago.  The workshops are scheduled on Fridays 
so that registrants can plan weekend visits to the Windy City.  A 
registration form or online registration is availaable on the AMM web site 
at <www.midwestmuseums.org>.

Taking the Show on the Road – A Nuts and Bolts Approach to Planning and 
Coordinating Traveling Exhibitions

The Field Museum

AMM will collaborate with the Midwest Registrars Committee (MRC) and the 
Curators Committee (CurCom) to sponsor the workshop, Taking the Show on the 
Road.  The workshop addresses the myriad challenges of planning and 
managing a traveling exhibit.  The workshop is schedule for Friday, June 9 
at the Field Museum in Chicago.  The workshop will feature a special tour 
of the Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs exhibit at the Field 
Museum.  The registration fee is $65 for AMM, MRC, or CurCom members and 
$80 for non-members.  The registration fee includes a tour of the Tut 
exhibit (lunch not included).  Seating and tickets are limited and 
available on a first-come, first-serve basis!  This workshop is co-
sponsored by Methods and Materials and Barrett Moving and Storage.


Strategic Planning for Small Museums/The 5% Solution (Marketing Techniques 
for Small Museums)

Museum of Contemporary Photography

AMM is collaborating with the Small Museums Administrators Committee (SMAC) 
to present two half-day workshops on Friday, June 30 at the Museum of 
Contemporary Photography.  The morning workshop, the Governance for Small 
Museums, will focus on important administrative issues for small museums.  
The afternoon workshop, The 5% Solution, will present important marketing 
solutions for small museums.   The cost for the individual workshops is $25 
(AMM or SMAC members) and $35 (non-members).  Registration for both 
workshops is $40 (AMM or SMAC members) or $50 (non-members).


X/Y Axis: Capturing and Keeping Young Adult Audiences

On Friday, July 19, AMM will collaborate with the Education Committee 
(EdCom) to sponsor the workshop, X/Y Axis: Capturing and Keeping Young 
Adult Audiences.  The workshop will provide ideas for educators seeking to 
design programs for young adults (ages 20 – 30).  The registration fee for 
the workshop is $40 for AMM or EdCom members and $50 for non-members.  
Additional information on the workshop will be available soon and posted on 
the AMM web site.
