Roberta,

I can't help you regarding information on visas. But I do suggest that you look up the MOMA's website, and find out who is the head of whatever department most interests you. Get in touch with that person and announce you particular interests and abilites, and your wish to intern with him/her. See what comes out of the discussion.

Internships at almost any fine museum institution can be rewarding, if you do your homework and know that there is a good understanding between you and your supervisor regarding what is expected of you, and what you can expect to get out of the experience.

I should warn you that many museum internships are unpaid, or minimally paid - it is considered a form of training and entre into a profession that requires devotion without great financial renumeration. So another job would probably be necessary.

Good luck,

Hillary Murtha
