I agree with both opinions. We have had 20 Hobos for almost three years
& they are still all working well. I also recommend the shuttle, it
downloads faster than directly to a computer & if you download weekly
you can get all 20 at one time making it very time efficient. Plus you
can get the batteries at any drug store, etc.

I second Anne's opinion on the Hobos. After some thorough research
(including recommendations from Museum-L-ers) I went for the Hobos.
Indeed, they are easy to use; batteries are easy to replace (and now,
after a year of use, keep going and going and going); and, a very
important consideration since I needed many, they come at about $80 a
Hobo; in other words, more Hobo for your buck.

I'll be happy to give you some more details.

Hobos are very easy to work with. Changing the batteries is simple.
They're easy to use, the batteries last a long time, and if you have a
shuttle, you don't have to bring them all to your computer to download
them. On top of that, they're cheap - excuse me, inexpensive.
Economical.

I have Oakton dataloggers, and they are a bear to work with. Changing
the batteries is ridiculously difficult and dangerous because opening
the unit exposes the chip board and the humidity sensor. And those tiny
little screws... I need to buy more dataloggers. Should I take this
opportunity to switch? Are HOBOs easy to work with?
