Hello,

I was hoping to question all of you on your personal opinions. I am writing a masterthesis (cultural heritage, Utrecht university, Netherlands) on the subject of material vs. visual authenticity. In the Netherlands, lots of museums are starting to bring their collections to live with sounds, lighteffects and environment. While this could sometimes be very annoying, there are also museums that have created a beautifully detailled picture of the past. It is nothing more than a representation, but sometimes pretty accurate. Onfortunately, authentic objects are often replaced by copies: either the material objects are authentic or the picture is "complete".

I am doing research on this development now, but just out of interest I would love to hear some personal opinions on this matter.

Thank you very much,
Sanne
