I second Rebecca. I recently interviewed a wide variety of museum studies
professors, graduates, and employers for an article on the current state of
museum studies (appearing in the spring issue of Exhibitionist). The one
theme that came through time and again was that every program is different.
They all have different strengths, different emphases. The best thing to
do is find a program that is strong in the area you want to pursue. For
example, University of the Arts and JFK are perhaps the strongest in
exhibition; but if you're more interested in collections management or
administration, you're probably better off looking for a program that
specializes in those areas.
