You might want to get in touch with the Edison National Historic 
Site, West Orange NJ http://www.nps.gov/edis/home.htm

A few years ago they discovered mercury spills in Edison's lab, so 
had to deal with the hazard/clean-up issues in a historic site. And, 
of course they'll know all about the lightbulbs.
