We do allow donations of scans of photographs or donations of digital
images. I record the donation just like a physical donation, with an
accession number and temporary receipt for the physical image. Then I ask
the "donor" to sign a "Reproduction Authorization" form instead of a Deed of
Gift. I could just have well called it a Virtual DOG, I guess. I've been
doing this for a year and it's worked well.
