Hello all:

As a recent graduate of a masters level university museum studies program, and
new museum professional, I have joined Museum-h; museum-ed; and museum-l
amongst many local and national list serves - I am a Canadian member of your
group- hoping to learn and keep up with museum events and technology etc. and
pick up kernels of wisdom from fellow museum professionals. While the
international/European museum-l as well as all my local and national museum
list serves seem to keep non-museum related topics virtually non-existent, I
fail to comprehend how not only are there always topics of no concern to museum
professionals - although "yes - everything relates to museums" and everything
else in life for that matter... but those responding seem to have barrel fulls
of time to read and respond to all of these personal back and forths...and
while my political leanings certainly do not agree with the current American
administration, I really do not need to read about who's slagging whom on a
listserve I believe is reserved for discussing issues directly related to
museum practice.

All I'm saying is I've taken to directly deleting all incoming museum-l threads
because they seem to have degenerated to personal forums and political
platforms and while I have nothing against the odd comment, there are other
web sites and chatrooms that you can all use to debate that. So please I ask
of
you to not "respond to all" I'd hate to give up my subscription for fear that
the next topic might actually be relevant to museum practice.

Sincerely,

Maria Cruz, B.A., MMst
