Research Assistant

The Metropolitan Museum of Art, one of the world's finest museums, seeks a Research Assistant in the European Paintings department.  The Research Assistant is responsible for gathering and entering the department's catalogue information for the on-line database (TMS).  This includes recent provenance findings, as well as backlog from exhibition and research.  

Successful candidates must have BA in art history, Master's degree preferred.  Experience in cataloguing works of art, reading knowledge of German and at least one Romance language, preferably French, required.  Also required is the ability to do meticulous research and to concisely summarize key issues relating to particular paintings, as well as excellent proofreading skills.
