Keni,

Your Board member has a terrific ideas, since, as you probably know, the bus
is the expensive part of the field trip. I've heard of a number of
instances where a company underwrites the admission fee for a school, the
only one I know about dealing with transportation is INVEST, which is a
volunteer organization serving two school districts in the northern suburbs
of Chicago. They provide tutoring, mini-grants and field trip buses
through private grants and donations. You can contact them at

(www.invest-in-education.org), but there seems to be a problem with the
server.

Subject: Subsidizing Buses

Hello All,

One of my new docents happens to sit on the board of a foundation that funds
educational opportunities for children. He is interested in helping us
underwrite some of the costs of buses for field trips. I am hoping that
some on this list offer such subsidies and if so, would you please let me
know how much of the bus cost you fund and has this helped to increase your
school attendance?

Thanks,
Keni Sturgeon
