ASSOCIATE EXHIBITION DESIGNER

The Metropolitan Museum of Art, one of the world's finest museums, seeks an Associate Exhibition Designer for the Department of Design. The Associate Exhibition Designer will be responsible for all duties assigned by the Chief Designer in the planning development of several capital renovation projects. These duties include preparing design document drawings, floor plans, detail drawings, case lists and schedules for internal museum reviews and construction bid documents; preparing sketches for review by the Chief Designer or curators when appropriate; constructing simple display models for review; sharing responsibilities during the final installation process of all major projects and installations; working with curators and the Construction departments to review project needs or track project progress; and ensuring that schedules and Museum standards are met.

The ideal candidate must have 3 to 5 years of experience in museum exhibition design or industrial design; full knowledge of construction techniques and project management; Vectorworks or AutoCad drafting skills; knowledge of PhotoShop, Quark and MS Office programs; and knowledge of proper art handling and installation procedures. B.A. degree in museum design or professional experience in exhibition design is required. Candidates must submit a portfolio or CD and actual examples of drafting and design sketches.
