A famous prehistoric-bird expert lectured students on his once in a lifetime

Palaeontologist Bruce Schumacher was walking along the drought- lowered 
shoreline of south-eastern Colorado's John Martin Reservoir when his eye was 
drawn to a sandstone block

At some point in history, between about 12 and 14 million years ago, an 
ancient rhinoceros took its last breath and died near where the Neches River 
runs today

**  Dinosaurs coming back to Neville in a big way
The Neville will run the Tyrannosaurus rex exhibit from Oct.1 to Jan. 2, in 
part to commemorate the museum's 90th anniversary

**  Largest shank fossil of dinosaur recovered in Inner Mongolia
The largest fossil of sauropod dinosaur's shank has been recovered and the 
dinosaur has been classified as "Otogosaurus"

**  Exhibit reveals new ways we study dinosaurs
Through new technologies such as computer modelling and robotics and 
tried-and-true standbys such as fossils and a 700-square-foot diorama, 
visitors will gain a new appreciation of dinosaurs and the methods used to 
study them

**  Arachnid's clue to dino wipe-out
A spider relative called a harvestman trapped in amber could shed light on 
how arachnids were affected by the extinction that wiped out dinosaurs

**  Stegosaur plates and spikes for looks only
The bizarre plates and spikes that lined the backbones of the long-extinct 
stegosaurs were probably extreme examples of the often elaborate and 
colourful displays developed by animals to recognize fellow members of their 
species, according to an international team of palaeontologists
