Battleship North Carolina, located in Wilmington, North Carolina,
announces that the Friends of the Battleship are funding a 12-week summer
curatorial internship for an undergraduate or graduate student in 2005.
The focus of the internship is collections management. Main duties will be
to catalog collections into PastPerfect software system and organize found-
on-board archival materials and produce related finding aids. Opportunity
exists to undertake an independent historical research project to support
interpretation, develop materials for school programs or develop and
conduct visitor surveys. The schedule is 40 hours per week, Mon-Friday, at
$7.50 per hour. Housing and other benefits are not provided.
Qualifications: Candidates from all backgrounds with a demonstrated
interest in museum or library work are encouraged to apply. Preference
given to History, English or related social science majors. Computer
skills are essential. Accuracy and strong attention to detail are crucial.
