SENIOR NETWORK ENGINEER
The Metropolitan Museum of Art, one of the world's finest museums, seeks a Senior Network Engineer to work in our Department of Information Systems and Technology. The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for the maintenance of existing networking equipment and for the implementation of new equipment within the Museum. This person will interface with Management to ensure that the correct network security models are appropriately implemented. Other duties include analyzing complex local and wide area network issues, including wireless, remote connections to off-site locations; adding, moving or changing equipment; providing technical consultation to IS&T Managers; updating network security as new patches and hotfixes are available; testing new software for all switch types and upgrading switches when necessary; and running daily, weekly, and monthly reports on network utilization.
Successful candidates will possess 3+ years of Network Engineering experience. Candidates must also have knowledge and experience with: Nortel Layer 2 and Layer 3 switches; Nortel Contivity VPN Concentrator; Cisco 3000 VPN Concentrator; Ethernet TCP/IP Protocol; 802.11 a/b/g protocols; and Sniffer Protocol analyzer. A college degree or equivalent work experience is required; network certification is preferred.
