Mandy,

I would be extremely cautions about changing a flat painted hide with an old
paint film from a flat context to a rolled one. Chances are that you could
significantly damage the paint film by doing this. Please get a qualified objects
or ethnographic conservator to examine the piece and to work with you to make
storage and handling recommendations.

I know several qualified conservators in the Denver and Ft. Collins area and
you could also use the AIC (American institute for Conservation) free Guide to
Services:

http://aic.stanford.edu/

Cheers!
Dave
