Simon (and everybody else),

My last job was at a small museum that charged a modest admission fee and
while there I installed a donation box as well. I generally found it to be
well-used. If people didn't feel that a donation was appropriate, for the
most part they just walked past. Very few people had negative comments on
the fact that we were charging a fee and had a donation box, and these were
the ones who complained that we had an any fee at all thinking that all
museums should be free. The box was located near the door, but in sight of
the front desk (and it was bolted down), and always with a nice supply of
money in it to prompt more giving!

Does anyone have a donation box that is charging admission? If so, what
kind of response do you get?

Thanks,
Simon
