We have three categories of collections: permanent, exhibit, and
teaching/education collections that are added to our database. Permanent
collections have no prefix, exhibit items which have an "E" prefix, and
teaching collections which have a "TC" prefix. Exhibit and teaching
collections are items that we considered expendable and not terribly tragic
if they end up broken or missing. We collect items for the exhibit
collection that we have duplicates of in the permanent collection which
might be interesting to put on exhibit and become our first choice for
institutions who wish to borrow items from us.
