Well said, Maggie. I especially like your point about museums
functioning as senior support systems. At the Atomic Testing Museum,
most of our volunteer base are retired Nevada Test Site workers. Their
contribution is so important not only in the volunteer positions they
function in, but also to provide living witnesses to such an important
part of Cold War history to our younger patrons. They are as well
remaining active and contributing in a significant way to our community,
while still keeping in touch with former colleagues and friends from
back in the day.
