I have the Museum Studies Certificate from UW.
I would suggest using the certificate program as a
supplement to a Masters Degree in a specialized field.
The certificate gives you a general overview of
musueum ethics, exhibit design, management and
collections (mostly in historic society and natural
history sense because it is the northwest and that's
what there is the most of.)
I didn't have a lot of luck getting work with just the
certificate and bachelors degree.
I ended up getting my Masters in Library and Info
Science but that's because I was more interested in
the Collections side of things. Our current museum
education director has his masters in education
administration.
Good luck! If you have any detailed questions about
the certificate program your welcome to ask me.
