IMLS Director and key agency officials take part in Museum Association
Meetings in New Orleans, May 3-9

WASHINGTON, DC - Dr. Robert Martin, Director of the Institute of Museum
and Library Services (IMLS), and other agency representatives, will talk
about how IMLS grant opportunities help build the capacity of museums to
sustain heritage, promote lifelong learning, and create civic
engagement. 

"IMLS is dedicated to creating and sustaining a nation of learners by
helping museums and libraries better serve their communities," said IMLS
Director Robert Martin. "We hope you can join us New Orleans as we work
to help strengthen museum and library services to provide a lifetime of
learning to the public." 

Following are the IMLS events in New Orleans May 3-9 sponsored by the
Association of Children's Museums Conference, the Association of College
and University Museums and Galleries, and the American Association of
Museums Annual Meeting: 

*The Spectrum of Learning: How Community Partners Can Play a Role in
Education and Learning, Salon Program moderated by Marsha Semmel, IMLS
Director of Strategic Partnerships. Program panelists include Ellen
Galinsky, Ned Rimer, and Elaine Wideman-Vaughn. Interactivity 2004
Conference, sponsored by the Association of Children's Museums, New
Orleans, Louisiana, 10:30 A.M., 5/3. 

*Federal Funding Opportunities, Panel, Jeannette Thomas, IMLS Program
