Try reviewing the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act
(NAGPRA) Review Committee meeting minutes. The NAGPRA Review Committee
deals regularly with repatriation disputes. It's a lot of material to
go through, but there is some interesting stuff in there.

Subject: Native Americans and museums

This is a specific request so apologies for that.

Can any one point me to some information on disagreements about
repatriation of artefacts? I am interested in cases where tribes have
been refused the return of items due to not being of 'the right tribe'
and any discussion about rejection on the basis of cultural affiliation.

I would also be interested in any cases or information of Native
Americans feeling unhappy with the way museums have explored their
culture. This is a big area I know and I am not looking for negative
stories per say. Just case studies which show up some of the
difficulties.

Thanks if you can.

Jane
