Need some advice on removing a thick, goopy layer of linseed oil diluted
with paint thinner from doors and railings dating from 1930 through 1970.
This linseed oil mixture has been used on these items for a long time.
Some of the woodwork are in non-climate controlled areas with high
humidity. This is unavoidable since it is a historic site where the items
must remain. However, the largest build up is on the inside of doors
which are in a climate controlled area. After removal of this substance,
I would like to properly care for these items but am curious what is the
best coating agent for items in a high humidity climate?

Please help!

Mary
