Hello--
I haven't been following this, so this might be a repeat posting.
Some years ago I stayed at the Kensington Palace Hotel, very much a luxury
hotel of excellent quality. I got the room for half-off by going through
a travel agent in London who booked me on a tour of the city for domestic
travellers, except that I didn't have to purchase any element of the tour
except the hotel, which was discounted by 50%.
I don't know if this discount is still available or if you can set
it up outside the UK. If you have friends there, maybe they could help
you. I would just add that many of the big tourist hotels in London are
enormous and rather shabby rabbit warrens and in real worth more expensive
than NYC.
