Although we don't use Past Perfect, we do keep our old hard copies and we
print out what we call an action record sheet for it collection (this lists
all the items, their numbers, donor info, dates gift forms were sent to
donor and when we recieved the sign copies back, as well as everything done
to the artifact i.e. number marked on it, etc). We find these hard copies
valuabe for several reasons:

1) data entry errors

2) the old cards have previous locations listed which can sometimes be
helpful if things get misplaced

3) sometimes the computer(s) is in use by someone else and most of the info
one would need is on these hard copies.

4) also because we have a limited number of computers not everyone knows the
software that we use for our database but they can understand the paperwork.
