Hello all:

First, let me apologize in advance for any cross postings.

I am the project coordinator for a Teaching American History grant based at
Bridgewater State College in Bridgewater, Massachusetts. We currently
provide professional development on various topics in American history for
high school social studies teachers in four southeastern Massachusetts
school districts.

In May, we will be doing a two day workshop on using museums and local
history with our teachers. As my background is in museum education, I have
been asked to serve as the faculty person for this workshop.

As a result, I am looking for good resources on using museums and local
history in the classroom that I can purchase or duplicate for the
participants. I am in the process of looking through my books from my grad
program in museum studies, but most of them are geared toward museum
professionals.

Does anyone have any suggestions of books, articles, or websites on this
topic that are geared toward non-museum people, specifically teachers?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Sincerely,
Suzi Fonda
