CDP is just completing the Teaching With Colorado's Heritage grant.  We have a number of resources for using primary source materials available in the Educator section of the CDP website http://www.cdpheritage.org/educator/

Teaching with Colorado's Heritage was based on the American Memory Fellows program at the Library of Congress, where additional resources can be found http://memory.loc.gov
Teachers from many states attended the Fellows program and we recruited a few here in Colorado to train other teachers with local resources.  You might consider looking up any MA participants in your area.

Hello all:

First, let me apologize in advance for any cross postings.

I am the project coordinator for a Teaching American History grant based at Bridgewater State College in Bridgewater, Massachusetts.  We currently provide professional development on various topics in American history for high school social studies teachers in four southeastern Massachusetts school districts.

In May, we will be doing a two day workshop on using museums and local history with our teachers.  As my background is in museum education, I have been asked to serve as the faculty person for this workshop.

As a result, I am looking for good resources on using museums and local history in the classroom that I can purchase or duplicate for the participants.  I am in the process of looking through my books from my grad program in museum studies, but most of them are geared toward museum professionals.

Does anyone have any suggestions of books, articles, or websites on this topic that are geared toward non-museum people, specifically teachers?
