The Adler Planetarium & Astronomy Museum, Chicago, IL, is seeking a 3D
Modeler/ Animator for the Digital Design Group in the Education
Department.  This position reports to the Director of Education.

This position is a member of a creative team to visualize and create
compelling 2D and 3D art assets, both real-time and pre-rendered, that
will be displayed on Adler’s state-of-the art DigiStar3 system.

Duties and responsibilities:

-       Produce digital art assets to support the visitor’s experience in the
StarRider Theater
-       Work as a member of a show project team
-       Participate as part of the creative team to brainstorm ideas and execute
the decisions made
-       Conduct independent research and work with content experts (inside and
outside of the Adler) to learn subject matter, gather resources, and stay
current in video and gaming industries

Education required:  A Bachelor’s degree

Experience required:

-       One to three years of video and/or multi-media production experience
-       Knowledge of the following software packages:  Discreet 3D Studio Max
version 5.0 or later, Discreet Character Studio 4.0, Adobe Photoshop
version 7.0, Adobe After Effects version 5.5, Adobe Premiere version 6.5,
Microsoft XP Professional, and Microsoft Office
-       Strong modeling skills, IK and character/creature animation, organic
modeling and overall working knowledge of 2D and 3D art production,
especially the ability to create 3D models
and 2D texture maps based on 2D concept art and story boards
-       Understand the fundamental differences between real-time and
pre-rendered sequence

Knowledge of all-dome production or other large-scale production
experience is preferred.

The salary for this position is commensurate with experience and education.
