Public Relations/Communications Internship

The Public Relations/Communications Department seeks a qualified intern to
enable the Museum to meet the needs of its multi-generational audiences.
The internship will provide students with hands-on experience, and they
will work closely with staff in the Communications, Education, and
Curatorial Departments on projects that match their academic background and
skills.

Description
The 2003 Fall intern will disseminate exhibition and program-related
information to the media and public; assist with the drafting of ads, press
releases, calendars, and digital information; research and categorize
potential media contacts; update communication and marketing material;
design and implement of marketing tools (i.e. program flyers and press
kits); catalog media reviews and articles; process information requests via
e-mail; and implement e-mail and internet-based marketing strategies.

Applications will be accepted from college juniors and seniors; recent
graduates; and graduate students in art history, arts administration,
curatorial and/or museum studies, or related field. Interns must be
articulate, self-motivated, and detailed-oriented with strong research and
writing skills and an ability to work on multiple projects.

Application deadline: October 1, 2003

Interns must be available to work two-days a week minimum (full-time
optional).

Internship is unpaid.

Procedures
A typed application should include the following:
1. Name, home and school address, and telephone numbers.
2. Full resume of education and employment history.
3. A cover letter describing past museum experience and reason for applying
to the internship program.

After an initial review of the submissions, select candidates will be
invited for an interview at the Museum. No applicant is accepted without an
