Making Museums Matter
March 4 - 6, 2004 at the University of Victoria, Victoria, British Columbia, Canada

        * Is it important for your museum to be a success? If so, to whom is it important -- and why?

        * In the case of your museum, how is success defined? Who made that definition?

        * Success, having been defined, how does your museum regularly tell the difference between achieving that success and being a failure?

Do you find it challenging to develop meaningful responses to these fundamental questions in your busy, pressured, day-to-day working life? Making Museums Matter, a three-day workshop at the University of Victoria's Dunsmuir Lodge, provides you with a rare opportunity to join other senior museum professionals in a collegial environment to explore such questions and to consider how your answers clarify your museum's role and purpose. Stephen Weil, Senior Scholar Emeritus of the Smithsonian Institution and well-known museum observer and thinker, creates a stimulating framework in which you develop practical (and perceptive) strategies to ensure that your museum matters.

As registration is limited, please visit our website at http://www.uvcs.uvic.ca/crmp/courses/making_matter.cfm to learn more about this workshop and about registration procedures. And please let us know if you have any questions...
