The following position is available immediately.  Please direct inquiries

Senior Interpreter

The Senior Interpreter’s primary responsibility is to support the Education
and Public Coordinator by assisting in the planning, implementing, and
evaluating interpretive and education programs offered at our museums and
historic sites.

Responsibilities include:
§Assisting with recruiting, training and evaluation of Interpretive and
Visitor Services Staff;

§Maintaining Interpretive and Visitor Services staff schedules;

§Assisting with planning and implementing innovative education programs for
all ages with the Education & Public Programs Coordinator, including
monitoring supply inventory;

§Scheduling and staffing group tours;

§Offering leadership and assistance to Interpretive and Visitor Services
staff, especially on weekends;

§Providing tours and lectures to the public as necessary;

§Professionally representing the Nantucket Historical Association to the
visiting public;

§Maintaining reservations and visitation statistics for education and
public programs;

§Other duties as assigned by the Education & Public Programs Coordinator.


Qualifications: Successful applicant will have three years of relevant
experience at a museum or historic site and a demonstrated interest in
American History.  Bachelor’s degree in History, American or Museum
Studies, or Historic Preservation preferred.  Senior Interpreter must
exhibit strong leadership qualities, enjoy working with the public, possess
excellent oral communication skills, and be creative, flexible, and highly
organized.  Position is year-round, full-time, and includes the NHA’s
benefit package.   Applicant must be prepared to work weekends, evenings,
and holidays as required.
