Linda, you may want to contact Historic St. Mary's City, Maryland. They
have an outdoor audio walking tour that they recently developed. Karin

Subject: outdoor audio tours [bcc]

Hello:

Great Camp Sagamore, a National Historic Landmark in the Adirondacks, is
considering developing a self-guided audio tour for the exteriors of the
workers part of their complex. Sagamore has a great collection of oral
history tapes with workers and their families that could help bring the site
to life.

We'd like to hear about other such tours and how they are done. Do the
tours use a audio guide for each visitor, or a audio installation at each
site? Are there particular problems with outdoor installations (aside from
the usual of cold, heat, wet) that we need to be prepared for? Have sites
found the tours successful? Any other suggestions for creating such a
self-guided tour?

Thanks for any help that can be provided.
