We are often very involved in negotiating relocation expenses as part of
our services for clients and candidates. For directors and executive
leadership positions, the Board Search Committee should indicate at the
onset whether they have the resources available for relocation and to
what levels. Once that's decided, we begin the search and tell
candidates that there are "x" amount of dollars for relocation as we
begin interviews. Sometimes all or a portion of relocation expenses can
be negotiated as part of an employment contract that includes other
benefits. We have also seen museums offer a certain dollar amount for
certain management positions, where local talent is not available.
Administrative positions are rarely assigned relocation dollars. If you
have any other questions, please contact me on or off-line. Cheers,
