The job description would depend on the nature of your operation. Does the
development person do just grant writing, annual giving campaign, deferred
giving, special events, capital campaign-what? Do you have a separate
prospect researcher? Does PR fall into the development rubric?
The salary range would normally go from a low of $45,000 in a very small
operation to $250,000+. Rule of thumb-less than the CEO but not by very
much. Remember, a good development person is the person who makes the money
for the institution.

Subject: Need job description for Development Officer
Hello listers,
Does anyone out there have a good job description for a full-time
development person that they would consider sharing? We would also like
to know what is considered an appropriate salary range for such a
position.
Thanks,
Wade Lawrence
