Hi, Deb,

We do an annual Heritage Day. Here are some of the activities we use:
making butter
washing clothes (the hand wringer is a HUGE HIT)
splitting cedar shakes
operating a pump car (one of our museums is an old RR Depot)
dress-up station with old clothes
farming (we show old farm implements and the kids plant a seed in a paper
cup to take home)
kneading bread dough (not to bake; we let the kids knead the dough and then
we have bread we've already baked for them to sample with the butter)
simple sewing (an aside - as a kid I remember going to a house museum where
we got to sew on a quilting frame).
