Yup... TV was (is) a critical factor.  Many "electric" modern kitchen/home
devices were marketed on TV. (BTW portable radios made be see as subversive.
Next time any of you have a chance, play out the little N-B-C chime on a
piano. It is G E C. Stands for General Electric Company. They REALLY wanted
evryone plugged in.
