"Essays & Readings: On the Origin of Music"
                http://www.webster.sk.ca/greenwich/readings.htm

This newly published 92 page book is a compendium of writings on the
origin of music spanning a period of research & publication from the
1950's to 2003.
The 3 sections of the book combine a number of printed works, mainly
these essays: "The Origin of Music"; The "Neanderthal Flute," [Oldest
known musical instrument] and "Stages in the Evolution of Melody, Scales
& Harmony."
Each section has additional articles and several updates designed to
weave the material into one integrated whole.
The earlier writings & theory, analyses & predictions are increasingly
confirmed by virtually all the new studies and findings over the past
years.
Section II also has extensive discussion and debate correspondence,
including from well-known anthropologists, archaeologists,
ethnomusicologists and others.

Information details on availability, price, the full table of contents,
reviews, media coverage, bibliography, picture of the book (hard and
softcover), and about the author, can be found at this URL:

To those who encourage their local or academic libraries to order a copy
will go my eternal gratitude.
