In October 1999, the (U.S.) National Trust for Historic Preservation
sponsored a one-day conference entitled, "Growing Up: Interpreting the
History of Childhood at Historic Sites". Along with talks given by
historians summarizing the latest histories of childhood, there were eight
case studies of interpretive programs at historic sites and an annotated
bibliography. We hope to place this material on our Web site in the next
six months.

Subject: Childhood and museums

Dear All,

I would be interested to hear from anyone who is currently or has recently
carried out research within the broad subject area of representing childhood
in museums, in connection to my own research in this area. I would like to
hear of anything relevant, from case studies or theoretical work anyone may
have done, to work on the archaeology of children/childhood or new
exhibitions/displays on the matter. I am especially interested in this
matter
from an archaeological perspective, but any historical or social study is
still of interest to me.

I can be contacted at [log in to unmask] and would be most grateful
for any help or leads given to me.
