John, MS Word, in its Tools function, checks Spelling
and Grammar. If there is a word limit, it will also
do that as well.

As for punctuation, there are many style manuals, and
some part of the punctuation is going to be a
byproduct of when one matriculated through English
courses (as in commas in a series; rhetorical
question: do you put the comma before the and or omit
it--some style manuals say yes, some say no.).

As I mentioned on MuseJobs this morning, the business
writing stylebook I use and recommend is this (listed
on Amazon.com):

1. The Gregg Reference Manual (Wrap Flap) -- by
William A. Sabin; Spiral-bound Our Price: $29.32

2. The Gregg Reference Manual (Gregg Reference
Manual, 9th Ed) -- by William A. Sabin; Hardcover Our
Price: $44.77 -- Or buy used from $59.16

3. Gregg Reference Manual: Comprehensive Worksheets
-- by Sabin; Paperback Our Price: $10.64 -- Or buy
used from $6.47

Further, I will offer what I have offered heretofore.
On an occasional basis, subject to other life demands,
I don't have a problem being the extra pair of eyes as
a collegial courtesy. However, that will have to be
forestalled for a few weeks until I reinstall my
software on my recently repaired home computer. Once
installed, I can take documents in MS Word 2000 and
lower versions (i.e. MS Works or earlier Word
versions) or documents done in Pagemaker 6.5.

In addition, I will remind those who do not have spell
checkers that, if you have spelling concerns, you may
wish to use http://www.yourdictionary.com . There is
a dictionary and thesaurus on the first page, and
there are dictionaries in countless languages also
available from that site.

One of my dilemmas lately is placing publication after
a web link (see above). I usually force myself to put
an extra space between the link and the period simply
so that it will not corrupt the link for the end user.
