Hi folks,
This is a big "Thank you!" to all of the generous souls who shared
their New Orleans thoughts and memories with me - I sincerely
appreciate it!!
We drove from Houston last friday night and stayed with the in-laws
in Lake Charles, then on to N.O. Several people made the suggestion
that we visit the Laura Plantation, so we made the effort. (went the
wrong way - if you're going, I'll let you know how NOT to go:)
It was WONDERFUL. The people who saved that plantation from the
ravages of time did a capital job on it and I heartily recommend it
to everyone on this list. I'm an architecture geek and the experience
was just what I was looking for. Lonely Planet calls it the best
History Tour in the nation. I don't know if it ranks that high, but
is should be damned close.
On another note, in regards to the GRE - when I was studying for it I
visited their website and took the free test that came with the
official study book. (It asks you for information on a specific page
of the book to log in.) I found it to be extremely helpful - it
modeled the real experience of taking the test. I strongly recommend
it.
That's it - I'm so grateful for this list and all of you out there.
Take care,
