Palo Alto Art Center Children's Program Assistant Position Available:

The Children's Program Assistant will assist with Project LOOK! and the
Children's Art Class Program 20 hours per week at $14.00 per hour. The
ideal candidate will have excellent time management and computer skills,
be able to work independently, take direction well, and have good
communications skills for working with staff, volunteers, teachers,
parents and children. The ideal candidate will have a background in art
and art education. A second language is desirable but not required. This
is a position with potential for professional growth.

Duties include:

*     Assisting with administrative tasks:
*     Maintaining and managing art rooms and supply areas, ordering
supplies
*     Scheduling classes and substitute teachers, school tours and
docents
*     Coordinating with staff, parents, teachers, schools and volunteers

*     Proofreading, copying, phone, email, correspondence, major
mailings
*     Producing and distributing publicity for upcoming events
*     Working as an art educator:
*     Providing tours and hands-on activities for Project Look! tour
program
*     Helping to prepare written educational materials for teachers and
docents
*     Facilitating and assisting with art classes, workshops, and
special events
*     Assisting with Family Day activities
*     Working on new programs and initiatives:
*     Assisting with scholarship programs
*     Outreach to schools, including East Palo Alto schools and
bilingual schools
*     Assisting with Teen Mentor Program

state-of-the-art exhibitions
