Dear List Fellows,

Following Dr. Boylan's insights:

 > There also remains a serious problem under international law in that the
 > United States and Israel are amongst the (small) minority of countries
 > that do not recognise the current version (1977) of the Geneva
 > Conventions. (Neither accept the more specialised 1954 Hague Convention
 > on the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict: to
 > our shame Britain is one of the larger minority of countries that have not
 > adopted the Hague Convention).

A concerned forum like ours could be amused, and sadened, by the curiosity
that Yugoslavian edition of 1954 Hague Convention
on the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict was
edited by a young officer later to be appointed as Chief-of-Staff of the
Yugoslavian Army at the time of armed conflict outbreak, war criminal
indictee Veljko Kadijevic.
He was educated also at West Point, USA.

I have no exact reference at hand for this book. That was an internal
military publication that had crossed my hands once.

Sincerely,

Jadran Kale
