I would need to know more about your institution specifically to give me a
more precise opinion, but in general, the most significant advantage of
Blackbaud's flag ship product Raiser's Edge (RE) is that it is powerful
and can easily handle several hundred thousand records. The major
disadvantage (in my opinion) is that it is not user-friendly and requires
some intensive training to learn to use it well. Oh, and by the way, it's
pretty expensive too!

Don't assume that RE is what you necessarily need just because it is
popular with other organizations. I would explore eTapestry. It is a
web-based ASP and is gaining in popularity. I would also look at the
products offered by JSI (Millennium and Paradigm.)

Please contact me if I can be of assistance.
