This isn't specific to art museums, or is it refined by geographical
preferences, but I pulled together (electronically) a list of foundations
that have supported conferences for museums in the past:

Since 1989, there have been 309 grants of $10K+ reported for type of
support equals conference and type of recipient equals museum.

The number in front of the foundation name indicates how MANY grants in
this area were made--e.g., Rockefeller, Ford, Dodge together account for 64
grants for museum conferences.
